Pierre Cardin

Venezia, 03/11/2009. Pierre Cardin,

Pietro Cardin, now known as the French fashion designer Pierre Cardin, has made his brand The House of Cardin an international success. Even though he was born near Treviso, Italy, Cardin completed his schooling in France. He was an apprentice for a clothing company starting at the age of 14. Then in 1939 he expanded his expertise to making suits for women. During the second World War, he worked with Red Cross and still to this day continues with his humanitarian interests. After the war, Cardin moved to Paris and started working for Paquin. He then moved to become head tailleure atelier for Christian Dior in 1947. The House of Cardin was founded in 1950. In 1959, he was the first to express Japan as a high fashion market. He created the “Espace Cardin” which opened in 1971. The space showed not only Cardin’s own collections, but featured theatre ensembles, music artists, and other artistic talents. The Pakistan International Airlines signed Cardin to design uniforms for their flag carriers during the 1960s. In 1971, he redesigned the national costume of the Philippines called the Barong Tagalog. Also in the 1970s, Cardin signed with American Motors Corporation (AMC) and his designs were featured in the AMC Javelin. Cardin’s interest in geometric shapes is shown in his clothing designs as well as the creation of his Le Palais Bulles (The Bubble House). In the 1980s, he chained restaurants and hotels titled Maxim’s. His biography was written by Sylvana Lorenz, named Biographie de Pierre Cardin. In 1991, he was designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. Later in 2009, Cardin was nominated the Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Cardin is now 92 years old.

Pierre Cardin’s fashion designs are unique. They include his interest in geometric shapes, his Space Age designs, an avant-garde style, and unisex styles. He often excludes the female form in his clothing. In 1954, Cardin introduced the “bubble dress.”

Threads for Her: Latest from Chanel

The newest face of Chanel, Cara Delevingne, along with model Kendell Jenner, started off the latest Chanel fashion show for the A/W 2014/2015 collection. Karl Lagerfeld probably doesn’t even know what the inside of a supermarket looks like, but that didn’t stop him from creating a Chanel shopping isle setting for his A/W 2014/2015 show. He compares the show to Andy Warhol and Art Pop, adding that humor is needed for fashion. Lagerfeld included elements of Mademoiselle Chanel herself, such as doormats stamped with Mademoiselle Privé, which was on her studio door.

David Beckham is now following in his designer wife’s foot steps by collaborating with Belstaff. The soccer star has created his own leather jacket line for the upcoming 2014 collection and is now showcasing online!
Inspired by his own biker jacket Beckham and Belstaff decided a leather design by a larger than life star would be a great addition. Being from a man like David Backham the price matches fairly well and looks very well put together. It looks to be a great year with many more celebrity collaborations on the way!!!

TOMS:Classic meets Charity

Seen globally from the celebs to average folk. TOMS is a fairly new company started in 2006 by CEO Blake Mycoskie. Mr.Mycoskie had the inspiration by traveling too a rather poor area in Argentina. The CEO got his charity up and running immediately after seeing children without shoes. His goal was to show the US that “together we can create a better tomorrow by taking action and compassion today!

Since the 2006 experience of Blake seeing poverty in Argentina he has since became a huge name in the charity business. TOMS has now been the shoe to own as well as a world class charity event!
Classic meets Classy

The Canvas shoes and slip ones have been seen in basically any fashion magazine you can think of. Stating classic everyday wear can actually become a sense of comfort and style.
In my opinion I like the comfort and style of the shoe as well as the price. It isn’t as expensive as most tasteful canvas shoes and it also goes to a wonderful cause.
Buy a pair to give a pair to a child in need!
